Gympie

The Woondum National Park is located only 16 km south east of Gympie along Noosa Road and Hill Road. The park is an ideal place to come for a day-trip.

Just inside the park entrance is the Rock Pools day use area where, as the name suggests, a series of cascading rock pools are dotted along Woondum Creek where it meets with Boulder Creek. Enjoy the sounds of the flowing water as you enjoy a picnic or BBQ. You will need to bring your own firewood. There are toilet facilities and sheltered picnic tables.

From the day use area you can follow the short Turpentine circuit track or go a little further on the Mount Boulder track. Both of these are classed as difficult and are best suited to fit, experienced walkers.

If you have a 4WD you can take a drive through the subtropical rainforest. There are a number of creeks in the park and the trails can get quite slippery and steep so take care as you travel around.

Tablelands Road lookout is in the south of the park. It can be reached via the 4WD track from the Rock Pools day use area or from the south via an unsealed road from the town of Cooran.

Horse lovers will love the dedicated riding trails that form part of the Noosa region riding trail.
