Your family can easily spend many hours happily strolling through the 15 buildings of this magnificent museum. It is situated on the site of the old No2 South Great Eastern Mine and many of the structures and equipment have been restored to their former glory. You will also find a school house, church, slab hut and other original buildings on site.
The museum is home to The 5th Light Horse Regimental Military Museum featuring memorabilia from the wars that called many local men and women. In addition, there is a section dedicated to the life of Andrew Fisher, Australia?s second Prime Minister and also to displays documenting the history of local industries and the community.
Participate in workshops and re-enactments, enjoy a picnic by the lake on the museum grounds or browse through the souvenir shop. There is so much to do here you will want to come again and again.
